MLS: Top 5 performances from Week 24’s midweek slate

3. Clint Irwin
The Colorado Rapids travelled to Minnesota on Wednesday evening in the hope of handing the Loons a second successive defeat. However, it would be the hosts that came out victorious at the end of 90 minutes, as MNUFC won out 1-0 at Allianz Field.

Nevertheless, the best performer of the day was Rapids’ goalie Clint Irwin. The American shot-stopper made eight saves, and without him, it could have been a lot worse for the travelling Rapids’ fans.
One of Irwin’s best saves of the game came just after the half-hour mark, after the Loons had been awarded a penalty. Darwin Quintero stepped up to take the spot-kick for the hosts, but his clipped effort was well parried by the 30-year-old.
Although Irwin’s heroics were not enough to help the Rapids to a win in Minnesota, Colorado fans will be looking for more solid performances from the man who started his MLS career with the club back in 2013.
The Rapids sit in 11th in the West, 11 points behind the Timbers, who currently sit in seventh in the Conference. With less than ten games to go now, Colorado will need a rapid rise (pardon the pun) if they are to make the postseason this term, and they will need Irwin on top form if they are going to do so.
