CM – Marcelo Sarvas – Unattached

The first of a two-man midfield was Brazilian Marcelo Sarvas, who spent three seasons with the Galaxy, winning the MLS Cup on two occasions. In the 2014 campaign, Sarvas was one of the anchormen in the Galaxy midfield, playing 33 times, including in all five playoff matches.

The midfielder started his professional career Brazilian giants Corinthians, winning the Copa do Brasil in 2002. He then spent time at Noroeste before moving to Europe, where Sarvas signed for Karlskrona in 2004, before a two-year spell with Kristianstad.

The midfielder then had spells at Mjällby, Bunkeflo IF ad Polonia Warsaw before moving back to the Americas, signing for L.D. Alajuelense. In his time with the Costa Rican side, Sarvas helped the club to both the Verano and the Invierno titles in the Primera Division in 2011.

The Brazilian signed for the Galaxy in 2012 and immediately became an integral part of the team. The side won the MLS Cup that year, before then going on to win it again two years later. Sarvas played 33 times in the victorious 2014 campaign, and over 100 times for the club in his three seasons in Los Angeles.

In 2015, the midfielder joined the Colorado Rapids, before then signing for D.C. United a year later. He stayed in the nation’s capital for two seasons, before being released at the end of the 2017 campaign. Sarvas remains unattached.
