RB – A.J. DeLaGarza – Houston Dynamo (MLS)
LA Galaxy stalwart A.J. DeLaGarza was the starting right-back for the MLS Cup final in 2014, winning his third MLS Cup title with the club. In the third of those title-winning campaigns, the full-back played in 33 games, including spending over 350 minutes on the pitch in their postseason run.
The defender played his college soccer at the University of Maryland, playing over 90 times for the Terrapins before being drafted by the LA Galaxy in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. The Californian side took DeLaGarza with the 19th pick a decade ago, and he went on to play over 200 times for the club in his eight years there.
The right-back lifted the MLS Cup with the Galaxy in both 2011 and 2012 ahead of the 2014 campaign, being influential in all three. In that time, DeLaGarza made his debut for the USMNT, playing in two friendlies in 2012. However, as he was not cap-tied for the USA, the full-back made the choice to represent Guam.
He has represented his new country 13 times, including playing for the nation in the 2018 World Cup qualification campaign. After appearing 33 times for the Galaxy in the title-winning 2014 campaign, DeLaGarza spent another two years in LA before moving to Houston to play for the Dynamo. In his three years with the Texan side, the defender has play over 50 times, including helping them into the playoffs in his first season there, in 2017.
