3. Consecutive postseason berths

Last season, the Seattle Sounders tied the LA Galaxy with their tenth consecutive trip to the playoffs. This season, they aim to stand alone.

More from MLS Multiplex

From 1996 to 2005, the Galaxy didn’t just make the playoffs, they dominated them. They played in the MLS Cup five times during their streak of consecutive births, winning it twice.

Seattle’s current streak dates back to 2009, a year in which, ironically enough, they hosted an MLS Cup final featuring the LA Galaxy. With the Sounders comfortably situated in second place in the Western Conference with 38 points, they are all but assured to best the Galaxy’s record and acquire sole possession of the consecutive post-season births record.

But look out Seattle, the New York Red Bulls are right behind you. They have an active streak sitting at nine consecutive seasons and counting. This should be a fun mark to keep an eye on over the coming seasons.
