LB – Brek Shea – Atlanta United (MLS)

The left-back for Orlando City’s bow in MLS was another MLS stalwart in Brek Shea. The full-back/winger played 19 games for the Lions in their 2015 campaign, providing four assists. His professional career started in MLS with FC Dallas. He spent five years with the Texas side, playing over 100 times for them, before moving to England.

The left-footer made his debut for the United Stated Men’s National Team in 2010 and went on to play 34 times for his country, scoring four goals. Shea was also part of the USA team that won the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup, scoring the winning goal against Panama in the final.

Shea signed for Premier League side Stoke City at the start of 2013, but was unable to keep a starting spot, and then had loan spells at Barnsley and Birmingham City. The American then returned to his homeland in 2015 with Orlando City and was their starting left-back throughout the next two seasons.

Shea then moved to the Vancouver Whitecaps. He played over 50 times for the Canadian side over the course of the next two years, helping them get to the playoffs in his first season north of the border, in 2017. The 2019 campaign saw the American move once more, as he was signed by MLS Cup Champions Atlanta United. He has become their starting left-back this term.
