Toronto FC Vs FC Cincinnati: 3 things we learned – Attack shines

2. It’s time to move on from Moor
Given Drew Moor’s performances this season, I was surprised to see him return to Toronto FC’s starting line-up against FC Cincinnati.
The veteran’s lack of agility, poor positional awareness, and sloppy one-on-one defending were all on display once again on Saturday. The most obvious example of Moor’s shortcomings took place in the 58th minute. As we can see in the video below, the 34-year-old did not step to Allan Cruz quickly enough, then got turned far too easily, and probably would have conceded yet another penalty had Ledesma failed to the place the ensuing deflection past keeper Quentin Westberg.
The Dallas native also received a booking after committing a needless foul when reacting to an overhit pass toward Darren Mattocks in stoppage time. Moor’s infraction led to a free-kick deep in TFC territory from which Cincinnati could have equalized had Westberg failed to get down in time to catch Mathieu Deplagne’s header.
With Laurent Ciman and Chris Mavinga providing more stability relative to Moor, it is time for Vanney to omit the veteran from his starting back four.
