LW – Rodney Wallace – Sporting Kansas City (MLS)

For Costa Rican winger Rodney Wallace, the 2015 season was his last with the Timbers, a year where he featured in 37 games, scoring three goals and assisting eight times as Portland won the MLS Cup.

He moved to the States with his family before he turned ten, and he went on to become a first-round SuperDraft pick in 2009, as D.C. United took him with the sixth overall pick. Wallace played over 40 times for the side in his two seasons in the capital, before being traded to the Portland Timbers ahead of the 2011 MLS campaign.

That same year, he made his international debut for Costa Rica and has since gone on to feature at two World Cups with the national team, playing over 30 times for his country. His first three seasons in Portland saw him cement his place as the starting left-winger, but an injury in 2014 saw the Timbers loan him out to USL Pro club Arizona United to gain fitness.

The Costa Rican returned to Portland at the start of the 2015 season, a year where his performances helped the Timbers to MLS Cup glory come December, as he scored the second Portland goal in the final, what turned out to be the match-winner.

Wallace then spent the 2016 season away from MLS, with spells at Arouca and Sport Recife, before returning to the States, signing for New York City FC. In his two years in the Bronx, Wallace has helped NYCFC to the post-season, before making the move to Sporting KC for the start of the 2019 season.
