1. Zlatan exposes Reds’ weak point

Greg Vanney tried to ensure his defenders were able to cope with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s aerial prowess by starting Eriq Zavaleta, Chris Mavinga, and Justin Morrow, however, TFC’s boss dropped the ball by persisting with Richie Laryea at right full-back.

Zlatan positioned himself between Zavaleta and Laryea whenever he was anticipating a cross to the far post throughout the match. The Galaxy ultimately exploited their target man’s positioning when Efrain Alvarez curled in a perfectly placed cross to an unmarked Ibrahimovic for Los Angeles’ go-ahead goal in the 75th minute.

With Laryea struggling in the final third and Toronto FC attacking down the left in the second half anyhow, I would have liked to see Auro come on for Laryea insofar as the former stood a better chance of actually marking Zlatan at the far post.
