21. Chicago Fire – SeatGeek Stadium – Bridgeview, IL

Capacity: 20,000

Opened: 2006

Pros: Soccer-specific, natural surface, sightlines

Cons: Location, location, location

Open another tab and Google “Chicago Fire.” Note what first comes up then come back. Now that’s a problem, but it’s not as big a problem as the location of SeatGeek Stadium. Bridgeview, Illinois is a bedroom community of Chicago located about a 30-50 minute drive from downtown. With so many other options in the city centre, the Fire’s standing as one of the least attended teams in the league cannot be a surprise. Even with stars such as Bastian Schweinsteiger and Nemanja Nikolic on the pitch, the Fire can’t seem to draw even a half-decent crowd. The situation at SeatGeek has gotten so bad that according to Pro Soccer USA, the team is even considering a move back to Soldier Field. Even though this would put them back in a shared stadium, anything might be better than staying at SeatGeek.
