8. Philadelphia Union – Talen Energy Stadium – Chester, PA

Capacity: 18,500

Opened: 2010

Pros: View, covered seating, soccer-specific, natural surface, sightlines

Cons: Location

View of the water? Cool. View of a bridge and some water? Double cool. I’m a big proponent of stadiums with a view, and Chester, Pennsylvania, of all places, is the best view in all of MLS. Watching the cars rush by on the Commodore Barry Bridge seemingly unaware of the match going on below is a reminder of just how vast and diverse a world we live in. Like some people love soccer, others don’t care at all and…Maybe I’ve spent a little too much time pondering my thoughts staring at that bridge. But I digress. While the view is gorgeous and the team is finally coming around, the location of Chester is less than optimal. A ways from downtown and with a reputation that precedes itself, Chester might not be a place you want to hang around after a game. However, for 90 minutes of soccer, with the bridge and Delaware River in view, Talen Energy Stadium ranks right up there as one of the best.
