2. Worst own-goal of the season?

Daniel Vega’s own goal was an absolute disaster for the San Jose Earthquakes.

More from MLS Multiplex

This was one of the worst own goals that you will ever see. As the ball is passed back to Vega, slowly and carefully, he lifts his foot to control it, only to take his eye off the ball and let it slip under his foot, between his legs, and roll agonisingly over the goal line.

If it wasn’t for that mistake, Dallas would have likely lost this match. In terms of the goal itself, it ranks right up there with Sean Johnson’s howler against Minnesota United. This was one of the worst moments of the season for the Earthquakes and it wasn’t the first blunder for Vega either.

The goalkeeper simply has to do better for the Earthquakes as they can ill afford to see continued mistakes by their number one option in net.
