MLS: Top 10 goals from Week 13 – Late winner, Johnny Russell dominates, and more

An action-packed Week 13 of the MLS season yielded some terrific goals. Here are the top 10 goals that made the cut.
It was a week of dramatic goals and stunning individual efforts in Major League Soccer. The stars of the league turned out in style as they were joined by a few first-time goalscorers in MLS.
Johnny Russell notched a hat-trick in Sporting KC’s 3-2 win over the Seattle Sounders, Jonathan dos Santos returned to the LA Galaxy with a bang, with there were some also lovely goals scored by the Vancouver Whitecaps, Real Salt Lake and the Portland Timbers.
Here are the top 10 goals in MLS from Week 13.
10. Johnny Russell vs. Seattle Sounders
What a performance it was from Johnny Russell against the Seattle Sounders on Sunday. The Sporting Kansas City playmaker recorded a hat-trick en route to SKC’s 3-2 win over their Western Conference opponents. This first goal from the Scottish goalscorer set the tone for the match.
9. Omir Fernandez vs. FC Cinncinati
A fantastic diving header from Omir Fernandez got the 20-year-old New York native his first career MLS goal. The New York Red Bulls came away victorious against FC Cinncinati as it finished 2-0.

8. Alexandru Mitirita vs. Chicago Fire
A long-range strike from Alexandru Mitrita found the back of the net as the Romanian forward scored his third goal of the season.
7. Sebastian Saucedo vs. Atlanta United
For the second consecutive week, Sebastian Saucedo scored a stunner for Real Salt Lake. The Homegrown Player has played a big part in RSL’s three-match winning streak.
6. Johnny Russell vs. Seattle Sounders
Russell’s hat-trick was capped off by this fantastic curling effort into the bottom corner.
5. Diego Valeri vs. Philadelphia Union
The Portland Timbers got a much-needed win on Saturday night and this goal from Diego Valeri was easily the goal of the match.
4. Nicolas Mezquida vs. Columbus Crew
A perfectly placed shot from Nicolas Mezquida lifted the Colorado Rapids to a victory against the Columbus Crew.

3. Jonathan dos Santos vs. Orlando City
A stunning striker from Jonathan dos Santos proved to be the difference in a 1-0 victory for the LA Galaxy over Orlando City.
2. Ali Adnan vs. FC Dallas
Ali Adnan scored one of the top individual goals of the season. His first MLS goal came in spectacular fashion.
1. Jefferson Savarino vs. Atlanta United
In the very last moments of the match, Jefferson Savarino produced a moment of brilliance to lift RSL past Atlanta United at Rio Tinto Stadium. A well deserved top goal of the week for a player who has had a knack for scoring stunners as of late.
