Forwards and Substitutes

RW – Ismael Tajouri-Shradi – 6.5

Ismael Tajouri-Shradi returned from injury to start for the first time in two weeks. Tajouri-Shradi played on the right-hand side but often drifted inside as Tinnerholm surged forward to provide width. Tajouri-Shradi had a couple of key passes but failed to play an incisive ball that threatened to change the outcome of the match.

ST – Heber – 8.5

Heber scored the equalizer for New York City FC. He now has two goals and two assists in the three matches in which he has started. He has been the catalyst for this team as they have earned nine points in their last five matches with Heber, including their first two wins of the season.

Heber’s best attribute is his movement off the ball. He consistently finds open space as the team moves forward in possession. He is not a high-volume shooter, but he is very efficient. He put two of his three shots on target, scoring one. He also had a pair of key passes.

LW – Maxi Moralez – 7.5

Maxi Moralez often comes into the midfield to get on the ball from a deeper position, but he did not have to this match, because Ring was so effective. Instead, Moralez played as a true left winger, while also drifting inside at times. Despite not finding his way onto the scoresheet, Moralez did create opportunities for his team. He put both of his shots on target and played three key passes. Moralez can attack from all over. He played nine crosses, two of which found a teammate in the box. He also connected on five of his eight long pass attempts.

SUB – Alexandru Mitrita – 5

Alexandru Mitrita only came into this match in the 75th minute. However, he still managed to take the most shots on New York City FC. All three were off target and all three came from outside the box. Mitrita is still trying to reestablish his fitness following injury. Early in the season, he was selfish, dominating the ball and shooting at every opportunity. Now with Heber added to the team, and Moralez fit, Mitrita will need to find his place in the attack. I believe he will be more effective in a supporting role.

SUB – Valentin Castellanos – N/A

Castellanos came on in the 83rd minute and did not have the time to get comfortable.
