Another weekend of the 2019 MLS season is in the books. Here is the good, the bad, and the ugly from what we saw over the course of the past three days.

What a weekend of Major League Soccer action it was. The Chicago Fire and Vancouver Whitecaps opened up proceedings after the midweek games with a 1-1 draw on Friday night. But then the real action kicked off on Saturday.

The battle of the undefeateds saw the Seattle Sounders topple Toronto FC, Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice in the Los Angeles Galaxy’s win over the Philadelphia Union, while Minnesota United opened their first-ever permanent home.

There’s plenty of talking points from an action-packed and eventful weekend. Here is the good, the bad and the ugly from Week 7.

The good

The supporters at Allianz Field couldn’t have asked for a more thrilling start to life in their new stadium. Minnesota United played New York City FC to a 3-3 draw on national television and on their new pitch. It was a goal-filled encounter with five goals coming in the first half.

With an amazing atmosphere and a revitalized team, this won’t be the first time we see a top drawer match at Allianz Field this season.

The showdown in Minnesota wasn’t the only match that produced an entertaining fixture. The Seattle Sounders held off Toronto FC in a 3-2 win that sees the Western Conference side remain unbeaten. Joining the Sounders as one of the only MLS sides to not lose yet is Los Angeles FC who edged FC Cinncinati 2-0 to continue their hot start.

Elsewhere, Atlanta United finally were able to shake off their poor start to the season with a 2-0 win against the New England Revolution. Can Atlanta build off of their win and find their way back up the table?

In individual player performances, two standout performers included Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Evan Bush. Ibrahimovic scored a brace for the second time this season and now has six goals on the season. For Bush, it was the Montreal Impact goalkeeper’s third consecutive clean sheet as he has recovered nicely from a 7-1 thrashing at the hands of Sporting Kansas City in March.

One final note from the good section was the play of Ezequiel Barco and Will Bruin. The Atlanta United playmaker scored a brace and gave the struggling defending champions a much-needed lift. For Bruin, the Sounders forward helped give his side a huge win over Toronto with two goals.
