2. Dynamo are MLS’ unlikely undefeated team

There are only four unbeaten teams remaining in MLS. The Houston Dynamo are the unlikeliest of them. Los Angeles FC and the Seattle Sounders are the two favorites to win MLS Cup right now. Toronto FC are the lone Eastern Conference team to remain clean in the loss column.

But it is the Houston Dynamo that are not getting the attention their results deserve. Some of that is due to inactivity. Like Atlanta, the Dynamo have not played since March 30th. Still, through four games, they have three wins and one draw.

They have excelled in their attack. The Dynamo have scored 2.5 goals per match. A bulk of their goals have come from an unlikely source. Homegrown midfielder, Memo Rodriguez, is enjoying a breakout campaign; he already has four goals, supplanting Romell Quioto as the starting left winger. Star right winger, Alberth Elis, is also enjoying a good start to the season. He has two goals and three assists through just four matches.

The Dynamo will try to remain unbeaten this Saturday at home against the San Jose Earthquakes. The Earthquakes are coming off their first win of their season. They looked improved against the Timbers. However, Houston is at home and has the balance and top-end skill players to dispatch them.
