4. Can anyone beat Los Angeles FC?

Last weekend, Los Angeles FC had to travel to D.C. United and face the team with the most points in the league. At the time, D.C. had allowed just a single goal in their first four matches. Los Angeles dominated them, scoring four goals and keeping a clean sheet.

Through six matches, LAFC have 16 points, winning five matches and drawing one. Their goal differential is +14. That means they have averaged a goal differential of over two goals per match. They have scored 19 goals, more than any team in MLS history through the first six games of the season, and given up just five. In summary, LAFC have ripped through teams.

Carlos Vela looks like the early favorite to win MVP. He leads MLS in both goals and assists. He has scored seven goals, while setting up teammates for four more. He has not done it alone though, Diego Rossi is second in the league in goals. Following his hat-trick last week, Rossi has six of his own. Walker Zimmerman, Mark-Anthony Kaye, and Latif Blessing have also started the season well. Blessing especially has undergone a transformation this season and is playing as a two-way central midfielder. He is excelling in the new role and is tied for third in MLS with 4.3 tackles per game.

This weekend LAFC host expansion side FC Cincinnati. FC Cincinnati have had a good start to their own campaign, at least for an expansion team. They have eight points through six matches, winning two, drawing two, and losing two. They have the same record both on the road, and at home. Unfortunately, they are bound to lose this weekend, because LAFC are miles ahead of them.
