Substitutes

SUB – Ismael Tajouri-Shradi – 5

The first player off the bench for New York City FC was Ismael Tajouri-Shradi, replacing Jonathan Lewis in the 55th minute. Tajouri-Shradi was active, especially compared to Medina and Lewis. However, he was ultimately just as incapable of impacting the match in a positive way. He did not have a key pass on the night and only took one shot.

SUB – Heber – 6

Heber made his long-awaited debut for New York City FC. He entered the match in the 62nd minute and instantly sparked the attack. Heber immediately received a ball in the box with his back to goal. He was able to turn and get a shot off, although not on goal. That was a positive sign. In total, Heber took three shots in the final third of the match. On the negative side, he was unable to challenge the opposing goalkeeper with any of his shots and he lost the ball four times due to poor touches. Despite coming on halfway through the second half, that number is more than any other NYCFC player.

Hopefully, Heber will make his first start for NYCFC this Saturday. It would be nice to see him play as the starting striker with Maxi Moralez back from injury playing underneath him as the central playmaker.

SUB – Keaton Parks – N/A

Keaton Parks came on late in the match, making his second appearance for the team. He only received eight touches, though, and was not given the opportunity to make his mark on the match.
