Attackers

RM – Jesus Medina – 4.5

Jesus Medina has appeared in all five of New York City FC’s matches, starting three of them. He has yet to notch either a goal or an assist. Medina had another frustrating match against Montreal; he was rarely on the ball receiving only 24 touches all match. NYCFC attacked down the left-hand side of the pitch more than 50% of the time, and Medina played on the right, so he often found himself isolated and lacking in service.

LM – Jonathan Lewis – 4

Jonathan Lewis received his first start since the season opener, but he was unable to capitalize on the opportunity. Lewis was the team’s most ineffectual attacker. He had just 18 touches in 55 minutes of play. He had one shot, which was off target, and no key passes.

CF – Valentin Castellanos – 5.5

Valentin Castellanos has had a decent run, receiving three starts in the team’s first five matches. He has proven to be a solid supporting player, but he falls short as a starting center-forward in MLS.

Castellanos put both of his shots on target. He also continues to be NYCFC’s best aerial threat. He won four aerial balls this match. Unfortunately, he was provided with the requisite service, receiving just 25 touches despite playing up until the 78th minute.
