4. Vincent Kompany

Here is another man clinging onto a lost cause. Vincent Kompany has been plagued with injuries over the last few years and, as a result, has found his Manchester City career collapse. He now spends almost every moment in either the physio’s room or on the bench.

Since Kompany joined Man City in 2008, the Belgium international has become a great of European football and cemented his name as one of the Premier League’s best-ever defenders and leaders.

However, despite still captaining City, Kompany is now 33 years old and far from a place in the starting XI. So, if you’re after a defender this summer, maybe he is worth a shot.
