5. Best vs. Best

Fans are being treated to a tremendous match this weekend as two undefeated teams square off in a cross-conference affair. D.C. United have been far and away the best defensive team in MLS this season. They have allowed just a single goal. Their back seven (goalkeeper, back-four, and two holding midfielders) have all played exceptionally. Meanwhile, the attack has been more than adequate, with Wayne Rooney leading the team to nine goals in four matches.

The D.C. United defense will have their work cut out for them this week, however. They face Los Angeles FC, who have scored a league-high 15 goals, averaging three per match. Carlos Vela has been the best player in the league thus far. He leads MLS in both goals and assists with six and three respectively.

This match should be a delight for fans and will offer a good chess-match for the managers. The best defense in the league faces the best offense. And two MVP candidates, Rooney and Vela, will go toe-to-toe. It is a must-see match for any soccer fan, whether they watch MLS regularly or not.
