Wayne Rooney scored his 16th MLS goal against Orlando City the other day, with an incredible long-range free-kick. He also assisted the first goal, and right now, he is one of the favorites for the MVP award.

However, there can be no denying that Rooney was shaped in Manchester before he helped grow American soccer. The Englishman is Manchester United’s all-time top scorer, and arguably their best ever player and Rooney would leave Manchester in 2017 and join D.C United a year later.

Rooney has since become one of the MLS’s best current players and has helped the MLS fanbase grow just like his ex-United teammate, Ibrahimovic. Fans of European soccer now tune into D.C games just to see how this Premier League legend continues his breathtaking form from Europe into America.

This man is arguably the biggest name in Manchester United’s history and he has now brought the levels of the MLS to new heights.
