1. Carlos Vela for MVP?

LAFC’s star forward, Carlos Vela, has burst onto the scene in 2019 with six goals and three assists in five appearances. Velas has shown he is the frontrunner for the MLS MVP as no other player has managed to replicate his performance in the opening month.

His recent hat-trick against the San Jose Earthquakes was his first career MLS three-goal match and brought his incredible month to an end.

Vela has scored more goals than any other player in the league, although he has played more games than most of his closest rivals, but perhaps more impressively, his three assists ranks him joint-second in the league as well. He is more than just a goalscorer, which is what makes him perfect for the MVP award.

Vela could very well keep up this pace as the season continues to unfold. Consistency will be key for him, but he certainly has the skill to deliver.
