LAFC Vs Real Salt Lake: 3 things we learned – Walker Zimmerman’s must-see stunner takes LA by storm
By Daniel Garza
1. Walker Zimmerman steals the show
LAFC needed someone to step up in stoppage time. In the end, Walker Zimmerman was the man to do it. The defender was an unlikely source for the stunning goal but it shows the club have players capable of scoring at different positions.
In a strange position for a center-back, Zimmerman received the ball on the edge of the penalty area. Taking one touch to set himself and open up his body, his second was a wicked, dipping shot that arrowed into the top corner, leaving Nick Rimando stranded.
The strike secured LAFC’s third victory of the season already. They are also yet to lose. More impressive yet, all four of their opponents were in the playoffs last season, including three in the Western Conference.
But this night, ultimately, was about Zimmerman’s moment. The crowd went raucous as the defender rescued LAFC once more.
