USMNT abroad: Who is Timothy Tillman?

A new player has surfaced in the Bundesliga who is among the players to watch for in the American development system. This and more in another edition of the USMNT abroad.

Timothy Tillman has finally broken into the starting XI for FC Nürnberg. The 20-year-old dual national started and played 51 minutes for Nürnberg in their 1-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

Tillman is eligible to play for the United States Men’s National Team and spent time with the U-20 team last year. The Bayern Munich player is currently in the final months of his season-long loan to Nürnberg. There is an option to buy in his loan contract which could be utilized if he can continue to get regular minutes for the first team.

The final two months of the season will be crucial for Tillman as he has only made two appearances in the Bundesliga this season. Perhaps this new found playing time will help get him more exposure as he tries to impress Gregg Berhalter and the USMNT coaching staff.

Goals and Assists for Yedlin, Novakovich, and others

Andrija Novakovich scored a goal and registered an assist for Fortuna Sittard in a 4-0 win over FC Emmen. After being left off of the USMNT roster for the upcoming friendly matches, Novakovich showed why he remains one of the frontrunners at the position despite being left out of the squad.

DeAndre Yedlin helped Newcastle United earn a point against Bournemouth in the Premier League. The defender assisted Matt Ritchie’s late equalizer to ensure the match would finish a draw.

Michael Orozco got on the scoresheet for Lobos in Liga MX against Morelia. This was his first goal of the 2018-19 season.

In the Bundesliga 2, Andrew Wooten recorded a goal for Sandhausen against FC St. Pauli in an emphatic 4-0 win.

Other notable performances

• Matt Miazga played all 90 minutes for Reading in a scoreless draw with Stoke City.
• Tyler Adams played all 90 minutes for RB Leipzig in a 1-0 win over FC Schalke. Weston McKennie played all 90 minutes for Schalke in yet another loss for his club.
