Substitutes

SUB – Ben Sweat – 6

Ben Sweat was responsible for creating New York City FC’s go-ahead goal in the second half. He ran down the left, holding off Walker Zimmerman, while keeping the ball from going out the goal-line. He then found Alex Ring wide open outside the six-yard box for an easy finish.

However, Sweat also committed the foul that led to Carlos Vela’s PK equalizer. Sweat was relegated to the bench for the first time this season. He came on shortly after the start of the second half. He finished the match with one interception and one clearance. Of course, he had the assist to Ring, and two fouls, including the one inside the penalty area.  A mixed day.

SUB – Jonathan Lewis – N/A; SUB – Jesus Medina – N/A

Jonathan Lewis and Jesus Medina both came on late for New York City FC and did not have much opportunity to be involved. Each of the two has started a game this season, but seem to be behind Valentin Castellanos right now.
