The Future’s Bright

FC Dallas (8) plays the academy product, and with a fair amount of success. The LA Galaxy (13) gave some minutes to youth prospects but were bested 2-0 in Dallas. The Galaxy did not risk Zlatan Ibrahimovic even making the trip, but did play Joe Corona immediately. Perhaps Corona learned some names during warmups.

The Galaxy again look far too dependent on Zlatan for any playoff hopes. The mix of new players and new manager Guillermo Barrios Scheletto will require some patience. When the Lion of LA gets hungry for wins and playoff appearances, will the Galaxy be able to satisfy his hunger? That’s a borderline proposition at best currently. The defense, like last season, is a catastrophe waiting to happen. This game should have been a blowout.

FC Dallas, well, Matt Doyle’s tweet says it all. FC Dallas shed some talent this offseason, but the future looks bright under new manager Luchi Gonzalez. The knock to Reggie Cannon is worrisome, but FC Dallas will be in the mix all year. The only real question is which new academy product will emerge during the playoff charge?
