MLS Week 2: Top 7 storylines to watch
3. FC Cincinnati try to gain traction
FC Cincinnati were blown-out in their inaugural MLS match. They lost to Seattle 4-1. The lone positive for Cincinnati in this match was the wonder-goal by Leonardo Bertone, their first-ever in MLS competition — what a goal for it to be, by the way.
The expansion club had practiced with a back-five all throughout the preseason but transitioned to a 4-2-3-1 against Seattle. This seemed silly. Sillier still, they deployed holding midfielder, Eric Alexander, as a right midfielder. Suffice to say, this was not the best gameplan.
FC Cincinnati now need to go into Atlanta to face the MLS Cup Champions. They need to find better success, and find more positives, than they did the last week. Even if they lose, Cincinnati need something to build on as they head into their first home match in MLS March 17th.
