MLS Week 1: First impressions of all 24 teams
Toronto FC
Micheal Bradley was the league’s most valuable player Opening Week, bagging a brace and generally commanding the midfield spaces. There aren’t many people who would have predicted that before the weekend got underway.
The fact that Bradley had to score twice to secure Toronto the victory, however, is concerning. With Sebastian Giovinco and Victor Vazquez exiting in the offseason, and Jozy Altidore predictably still recovering from his latest injury, attacking ingenuity and creativity is difficult to find within the squad.
This may have been the best team in MLS just a couple of years ago, but the squad looks a little bare. The DP signing of Alejandro Pozuelo will help, obviously. But he must hit the ground running for this Toronto team to be a player in the East this season.
