USMNT abroad: Josh Sargent signs extension with Werder Bremen and more

John Brooks and Andrija Novakovich were the top performers from the USMNT representatives in Europe. Find out how they and the other players fared this week.

It has been a huge week of action for U.S. Men’s National Team players, on and off the pitch. Here is all you need to know in the USMNT abroad update.

It’s been a great last two matchdays for John Brooks of Wolfsburg. The defender picked up an assist last week and then went on to score a goal on Sunday against Josh Sargent and Werder Bremen.

In the Dutch Eredivisie, striker Andrija Novakovich was on the mark for Fortuna Sittard in a 4-2 loss to AZ Alkmaar. Novakovich has now scored six goals in 20 league appearances this season.

Sargent signs contract extension with Werder Bremen

After just joining Werder Bremen in the summer, Josh Sargent is already showing he can be a long term player for the Bundesliga club. A contract extension was signed this week by the 19-year-old goalscorer. The terms of the deal were not disclosed at the time of the announcement by the club.

The security of Sargent’s future is no longer in question, and rightly so, as he has been a regular player in the 18 for Bremen.

Kenny Saief will be loaned out to FC Cincinnati

American midfielder Kenny Saief appears to be headed to FC Cincinnati in Major League Soccer. The loan move would certainly guarantee the playing time that has been lacking at Anderlecht. Saief has not made an appearance longer than eight minutes since November. As a result, he will be looking to take full advantage of his loan spell to regarding confidence and form.

  • Matt Miazga played all 90 minutes for Reading a 2-1 victory against Ipswich Town.
  • Tim Ream played all 90 minutes for Fulham against Chelsea which ended in a 2-1 loss.
  • Ethan Horvath recorded a clean sheet for Club Brugge in a 1-0 win over Sint-Truiden in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
  • Emmanuel Sabbi went 62 minutes for Hobro in a 1-1 draw against Aalborg.
  • Erik Palmer-Brown played all 90 minutes for NAC Breda in a 4-1 defeat to Vitesse Arnhem.
  • Bobby Wood played all 90 minutes for Hannover against Stuttgart. That match ended in a 5-1 loss for Hannover.
  • Omar Gonzalez played all 90 minutes for Atlas in a 3-1 loss to Club Tijuana in Liga MX action.
  • Cameron Carter-Vickers played all 90 minutes for Swansea City in a 2-0 clean sheet victory over Bolton Wanderers.
  • Michael Orozco played all 90 minutes for Lobos in their 2-1 win over Pumas.
  • Romain Gall played 61 minutes for Malmo in their 2-0 victory against Falkenberg.
