1. Welcome back Jordan Morris

A better script could not have been written for Jordan Morris’ return to MLS. The American striker took full advantage of his opportunities and showed he’s ready to help lead the Sounders in 2019. Every club in MLS should be worried about what Morris can do this year.

After suffering a season-ending ACL tear in 2017, the return of Morris was somewhat overlooked outside of Seattle this offseason. Not anymore. This performance put him right back on the national map. And deservedly so.

His first goal may have taken a deflection on the way, but the sharpness of the run was impressive, fed by a beautiful Nicolas Lodeiro pass. His second was a brilliant, left-footed strike into the top corner, again supplied by Lodeiro.

If the Lodeiro connection continues, as is expected, Morris will be one to watch in the Golden Boot race as the 24-year-old is certain to have many more multi-goal matches this year. What a wonderful return.
