USMNT abroad: John Brooks, Emmanuel Sabbi register assists

Another week has passed in the soccer world as the USMNT players abroad took part in an action-packed weekend. Here’s how they fared.

There were not too many U.S. Men’s National Team players on the scoresheet this week but we do begin with a pair of assists.

John Brooks picked up his second assist of the Bundesliga season against Borussia Mönchengladbach. The defender helped in his club’s 3-0 victory over Fabian Johnson and Mönchengladbach.

In Denmark, Emmanuel Sabbi had an assist for Hobro against Esbjerg. The Hobro went on to win 2-0.

Goals in Scotland and Germany

Motherwell and the former U.S. U-20 player Gboly Ariyibi scored against Celtic on Sunday. Although Celtic went on to win 4-1, it was the first goal for Ariyibi this season. The 24-year-old is on loan from Nottingham Forrest.

Andrew Wooten scored for Sandhausen in Bundesliga 2 in a 3-1 victory over FC Köln. It was Wooten’s eighth goal of the season in the German second division.

Other notable performances

  • Ethan Hovarth started in net for Club Brugge in a 2-2 draw with Anderlecht in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
  • DeAndre Yedlin played all 90 minutes in Newcastle United’s 2-0 clean sheet victory over Huddersfield Town.
