4. June 6th vs FC Cincinnati

Any match against an expansion side is one not to miss. Luckily for fans of New York City FC, their first look at FC Cincinnati will be at Yankee Stadium.

We’ve seen many entertaining games when the Boys in Blue took on new MLS clubs. The team’s first ever game vs Orlando City, a 2-2 draw against LAFC and, of course, a 3-1 win when Atlanta United game to town in 2017.

This match will have a unique atmosphere. Two new conference opponents getting a feel for each other, opposing fans visiting the Bronx and the possibility for a heated battle.

Normally expansion sides come in looking rather weak. But FC Cincinnati have some pieces in their squad that could provide a real threat to Domènec Torrent’s men. The team’s attack contains experienced MLS players such as Fanendo Adi, Roland Lamah, and Darren Mattocks and the defense has been heavily bolstered this offseason with the additions of former Whitecap Kendall Watson and Atlanta United alum Greg Garza.

Seeing how an established New York City FC side handles a newer foe like FC Cincinnati will be without a doubt entertaining.
