3. Alexandru Mitriță

New York City FC’s most recent signing, forward Alexandru Mitriță will also have some pressure on him in just his first season. Carrying a $8.5 million price tag and taking up the team’s third Designated Player slot, the team is expecting Mitriță to contribute immediately.

In his debut for the team, a friendly against AIK Fotboll, Mitriță wasted no time doing just that.

What makes Mitriță so likely to succeed in this NYCFC team is how similarly he plays to the likes of his new teammates. The Romanian is not only quick with his feet, but he isn’t afraid to run with the ball, often getting past defenders and scoring by himself.

The biggest question around Mitriță is where he will be playing. At his previous club, Mitriță played on the left wing, but with City already having depth at that position, it raises questions if Torrent is attempting to fill the vacant striker spot with his new DP.

Mitriță can help the team win games, obviously, but he can also push teammates to do the same if they want to see some playing time.
