USMNT abroad: Tyler Adams debut, Tim Weah goals, and more

There was plenty of news this week involving USMNT players around the world. From Tyler Adams to Tim Weah, it’s all here.

There’s much to get to this week as we recap what occurred for the United States Men’s National Team’s players, especially those plying their trade in Europe.

Tim Weah continues to impress

It has been a fantastic start to life at Celtic for Tim Weah. The forward scored in his first match last weekend in the Scottish Cup. He followed up his impressive debut with a goal against St. Mirren in the mid-week league fixture.

Over the weekend, Weah got the start in Celtic’s second league match of the week against Hamilton. He got the start and went 63 minutes as Celtic won 3-0.

Tyler Adams get first appearance for RB Leipzig

The wait for Tyler Adams debut with RB Leipzig was not a long one. After being named to the final 18 last weekend, the midfielder ended up not coming off of the bench. However, this week was a different story as the 19-year-old was one of the starting XI for the German side.

He would go on to play the entire match for Leipzig who won comfortably, 4-0, over Fortuna Dusseldorf on Sunday. Fellow American international, Alfredo Morales, played all 90 minutes for Dusseldorf.

Other Notable Developments

  • Andrija Novakovich was on the mark for Fortuna Sittard in mid-week action. The striker scored against Feyenoord in a 4-1 loss which saw Fortuna Sittard exit the KNVB Cup.
  • USMNT defender Matt Miazga is headed to Reading in the English second division on loan from Chelsea. After a disastrous loan spell to start the season at Nantes in France, the former New York Red Bulls player will look to regain his form. He will join a few other players with USMNT ties in the English Championship league. The aforementioned Novakovich is currently a member of Reading and is on loan at Fortuna Sittard.
  • Derby County’s Duane Holmes played an instrumental role in his side’s progression to the next round of the FA Cup. Holmes produced an assist on the 78th-minute winner against Accrington Stanley.

  • In the Bundesliga, Josh Sargent entered in the 68th minute for Werder Bremen. The match with Eintracht Frankfurt ended in a 2-2 draw.
  • John Brooks played all 90 minutes for Wolfsburg in a 3-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen.
  • Ethan Horvath got the start in net for Club Brugge and came away victorious against Oostende.
  • Omar Gonzalez played all 90 minutes for Atlas in a 3-1 win over Lobos in Liga MX.
