2. July 14 @ Seattle Sounders

Just like Toronto, the Seattle Sounders are a team Atlanta have failed to beat thus far. Atlanta has only played Seattle twice, and both matches ended in a draw. These teams played to a 1-1 draw in Atlanta last summer and played to a 0-0 draw in March of 2017.

This will mark just the second time Atlanta has traveled to CenturyLink Field. These teams last met in Seattle in 2017 when Atlanta United was in its infancy on the field. The Five Stripes played their fourth ever MLS game in Seattle and had to do so without their two best players, Josef Martinez and Miguel Almiron. In fact, Atlanta’s starting line up was very patched together and featured four starters that are no longer with the club.

Last season’s match was very different, with both teams looking near full strength. Seattle was struggling at the time, but drew Atlanta anyway. The Sounders would go on to surge towards the playoffs and the second seed in the western conference. Atlanta were frustrated with their inability to find a game-winner, especially against a ten man Seattle team in the last half hour.

Both matches between these teams were entertaining, and with the talent and caliber of both clubs, this year’s match should be no different. Seattle’s atmosphere is always tough and should make for an awesome summer contest.
