USWNT: Alex Morgan top 5 goals from 2018
By Daniel Garza
Alex Morgan produced another dominating year at the striker position for the USWNT. Here are her top five goals from 2018.
A total of 17 goals were scored by Alex Morgan during 2018 for the United States Women’s National Team. The forward capped another terrific year as she looks to help lead the USWNT to another World Cup title in 2019.
If Morgan can find her form in France next summer then the USWNT should be able to produce their highly entertaining offensive attack that puts together some wonderful goals.
Morgan was a poacher for most of the season as she was a consistent threat inside the box. Crosses always seemed to find her and any rebounds given up by opposing goalkeepers would be punished by no.13. She is a true finisher that has an eye for goal that cannot be matched.
The success of Morgan and the USWNT was evident throughout the year as they did not lose a single match. Their unbeaten play went along with their three competition wins in the SheBelieves Cup, Tournament of Nations, and the CONCACAF Championship.
Here are the top five goals from her 2018 season on international duty.
5. vs. China
The lone goal in this match came from Morgan off of this well-placed header. She rose to the occasion in this match and showed her big play ability.
4. vs. Trinidad & Tobago
A great finish from Morgan displays her vision in the box as she sneaks this one into the back of the net off of the post. She poured on the goals during the CONCACAF Championship scoring five goals in four appearances.

3. vs. Japan
In a wild Tournament of Nations match against Japan, Morgan recorded her only hat-trick of the year. The USWNT went on to win 4-2 and would be the eventual champions of the competition.
2. vs. Scotland
In the USWNT’s final match of 2018, Morgan once again provided the match-winning goal. This is a splendid volley that gave the goalkeeper no chance of saving.
1. vs. Mexico
A top-drawer finish from Morgan allowed the U.S. to take a 3-0 lead against Mexico and go on to win 4-1 in April. This was her best goal of the season and this match signalled the form to come in 2018.
As the USWNT head into a crucial year ahead, Morgan’s goals will need to continue to come if they hope to repeat their World Cup success. There’s no doubt they can repeat as champions if Morgan can find the back of the net next summer.
