With the season set to end in a few weeks, teams will be looking to sign talent to boost their rosters for next year. Here are a few superstars who could be making a move to MLS soon.

Although MLS is shifting away from the ageing superstar route of previous seasons, as Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic proved last year, if you can get the right one, there is still great value in signing them.

And this offseason, with plenty of team reviewing the past season and determing what areas need improvement, there are plenty of superstars who could make their way into MLS.

5. Giuseppe Rossi (Free Agent)

First up on the list is Giuseppe Rossi, who last played for the Serie A club Genoa. According to an interview with Pro Soccer USA’s Glenn Crooks, Rossi has recently been training at the New York Red Bulls’ training facility in Whippany, New Jersey.

The 31-year-old forward has also expressed his interest in playing for either the Red Bulls or NYCFC. Considering that Rossi was born in Teaneck, New Jersey, it makes sense that he would want to play for a club that’s near his hometown.

Rossi has played all over Europe, scoring 127 goals in all competitions over the course of his professional career for clubs including Manchester United, Villarreal and Fiorentina. He was released by Genoa in May.

Although Rossi was invited to the USMNT’s training camp before the 2006 World Cup, the Italian forward opted to represent Italy at the international level instead. Rossi went on to make 30 appearances with Italy, scoring seven times. He would be international pedigree and European quality to any MLS organisation.
