4. Cameron Carter-Vickers

Since his debut with the national team in November of 2017 against Portugal, Cameron Carter-Vickers has been an exciting prospect for USMNT. Carter-Vickers has lived up to the promise in his 5 appearances in 2018, playing in all 90 minutes in 1-0 victories versus Paraguay and Mexico. He also played all 90 minutes in 1-1 draws versus France and Peru.

The young Tottenham Hotspur product had a pair of successful loan spells last year at Sheffield United and Ipswich and there were some rumblings of him getting permanent moves to Championship sides in the transfer window.

Instead of going out on a permanent transfer, he went out on loan again to Swansea City for the 2018 campaign. This season has been more of a struggle for Carter-Vickers, he didn’t make his first appearance until match day 7 when he came on as a sub. He made a start the following week versus Stoke City and failed to appear until the two final match days of October. Playing all 90 minutes in a 3-1 victory over Blackburn and coming on as a second-half sub in a 2-0 win over Reading.

It seems that Carter-Vickers may be turning a page at Swansea, it will be important for him to build on this and continue to build chemistry with John Brooks and Matt Miazga for the national team in their matches versus England and Italy.
