1. Martinez secures Golden Boot, team fights for MLS Cup

Despite losing the Supporters’ Shield to New York, Sunday cleared up a couple of things for the club moving forward.

Josef Martinez officially claimed the MLS Golden Boot on Sunday, but not before adding his 31st goal of the season. The Venezuelan international now holds the MLS record for goals scored in a season. He has four more than the next closest player on the list.

Now Atlanta can turn their focus to the MLS Cup. Although they stated that winning the Supporters Shield was a goal for this season, that won’t be happening. Winning MLS Cup is yet another goal for the team. It is the only thing left for the team to fight for, as the season is finished and they’ve already clinched a spot in CONCACAF Champions League.
