Kellyn Acosta

With the absence of Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie on the squad for the matches against Colombia and Peru, Kellyn Acosta got the opportunity to play valuable minutes in both matches.

Acosta started the Colombia match alongside Michael Bradley as USMNT lined up in a 4-2-3-1. He scored a 50th-minute goal on a run inside the box that tied up the match at 1-1, though it wouldn’t be enough though as USMNT went on to lose 4-2.

Against Peru, Acosta’s service on a set piece found Josh Sargent in the 49th minute for USA’s only goal as they tied Peru 1-1. Acosta had a high motor in both games and, while he did make mistakes at times, he played his consistently way into scoring opportunities and threatening positions. Acosta has shown progression since his debut and continues to earn his spot within the national team, he was arguably the best midfielder for USMNT during these two matches.
