A big week for American players in Europe was highlighted by Weston McKennie’s goals for Schalke. Here is the weekly update for USMNT players abroad.

The week before the next international break provided some encouraging news as well as some disappointment leading up to the United States Men’s National Team’s next set of matches.

Weston McKennie led the way for the USMNT players in Europe this week. On Wednesday, the midfielder scored the match-winner for Schalke against Lokomotiv Moscow. The goal came in the 88th minute off of a corner kick.

And then at the weekend, McKennie was on the mark for Schalke against Dusseldorf. The goal marked his first career tally in the Bundesliga.

After leaving the match with an injury, McKennie was subsequently ruled out of the USMNT’s friendly matches to come this week. But this was still one of the best weeks of the young midfielder’s career.

Other standouts

Bobby Wood recorded a brace for Hannover to give him his first goals of the Bundesliga season for his new club. His performance helped guide Hannover to a 3-1 win over Stuttgart.

Emerson Hyndman scored his first goal for Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday in a 6-0 rout of Hamilton Academic.

Romain Gall registered a goal for Malmo in the Allsvenskan. It was his 11th league goal of the campaign.

Geoff Cameron scored his first goal for Queens Park Rangers in the English Championship. He also went 90 minutes mid-week against Reading in a 1-0 victory.
