1. Montreal a potential sleeper team in the postseason

The Impact still have work to do in order to secure a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. But what we saw on Saturday could point to a potential long run in the playoffs.

They have a much-improved defense that has been able to aid an upward trending offense, which is something they desperately needed after a poor start to 2018. They are still a little low on the goal front for the season — 42 goals this year is better than only two other teams above the playoff line, and Montreal have played more games than many of them.

However, with Piatti leading this attack, Montreal will always be dangerous. Pair that with a good, if not great, defense, and this makes for a team that can cause an upset when the playoffs roll around.

Resolve and determination were the names of the game on Saturday. If the Impact can show that same fighting spirit in October, then they could find their way into the conference semifinals. Or maybe more.
