USMNT abroad: Morales, Green, and Amon lead the way
By Daniel Garza
Football leagues around the world returned to a full slate of action following the international break. Here’s how the USMNT fared abroad.
The USMNT continues to ship players across the globe, spreading its reach farther and farther with every passing year.
That is a good thing for U.S. soccer. The level of competition is higher, especially in Europe, and the players improve, returning to the national camp having competed hard at a good standard.
We begin this week’s USMNT abroad roundup in Germany where Alfredo Morales recorded a goal for Fortuna Dusseldorf. The American player was instrumental in Dusseldorf’s 2-1 win over Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.

Julian Green was also on the scoresheet for Greuther Furth in Bundesliga 2 following his time with the United States Men’s National Team over the international break. He entered the match as a substitute and played 21 minutes in the second half.
John Brooks played an integral part in Wolfsburg’s draw with Hertha Berlin. He assisted on what proved to be the match-tying goal.
And in Denmark, Jonathan Amon scored a goal and had an assist in FC Nordsjælland’s 4-1 victory over Randers.
