As the playoffs look to be just out of reach, Wednesday’s matchup with Tigers will be the last chance Toronto will have to lift silverware in 2018. Greg Vanney has already stated that he and him team will play to win, rather than rotating to favour the MLS run-in.
It has been a disappointing season for Toronto. Injuries, the early-season CCL run and some peculiar Vanney decisions have cost this team a chance of defending their MLS Cup, unless if they put together a Harry Houdini-esque escape act in these remaining weeks. So having the chance to win a trophy should not be overlooked.
And Toronto should be primed to build off of their offensive display against the Galaxy and use it to their advantage against a club they beat earlier this season in the CONCACAF Champions League. This is a trophy that they are very much capable of winning.
