1. Silva and Piatti a deadly duo

The counter-attack led by Alejandro Silva and Ignacio Piatti proved to be too difficult for the Union backline to deal with. These two players have been instrumental in the Impact’s shot at the postseason and they showed why on Saturday.

Silva has three goals in his last three appearances and is coming to form at just the right time for the Impact. His goalscoring touch has not been felt very much this season which was concerning, but his recent spurt adds hope to what could be in the final matchdays ahead.

Both goals on this occasion were provided by Piatti passes on the counter-attack. Piatti fed Silva with a through pass down the inside-left channel with Silva prodding past the onrushing Andre Blake for the opening goal, before the pair then brilliantly engineered a two-on-one to close out the game, playing a one-two to perfectly set Silva up to chip over Blake for his second and Montreal’s fourth.
