Mike Petke has Real Salt Lake playing some of the most potent attacking soccer in the hemisphere, and doing so using a completely free-flowing front four. Damir Kreilach, signed to play defensive midfield, just won Player of the Week in his conversion to a between-the-gaps assassin. Playing this consistently, Real Salt Lake looks like a top two seed in the West. Those early-season hiccups are hopefully a thing of the past.

373. The Red Bulls looked exhausted against Montreal, and for good reason. As the last of five games in 15 days, Chris Armas sat seven regular starters. Montreal overpowered the replacements for two set-piece goals in the first half to seal the points. The Red Bulls did come out of that grueling run of games with a playoff spot secured. Now they need to find a way to rise out of this fatigue. With the next fixture away to D.C. United, the Red Bulls could play the spoiler to their southern rivals’ dreamy, late-season run.. 17-7-4. FC Dallas. 3. team. 370. El Capitan will call Frisco home through the winter. With the 4-2 win against Houston, FC Dallas was able to find their rhythm and plenty of space to operate in possession. Michael Barrios and Santiago Mosquera have paired well and Maxi Urruti rewarded Oscar Pareja’s trust. FC Dallas still has an outside chance at winning the Supporters’ Shield. After last season’s slide, fans expect no letting up in intensity through rotated squads this year. That strategy, however, is dangerous for Pareja to employ. The team needs to be fresh going into the playoffs, not chasing a trophy that is likely out of reach.. . Previous: 5th
