Home form/road form

Atlanta is 7-2-3 at home and 7-2-2 on the road. Their home record is not superb by any means, as they are tied for just third in the league with 24 points taken at home. However, their road form is by far the best in the league. Atlanta has 23 points on the road, which is six more points than Dallas, who has 17 points on the road. The Five Stripes are known for their amazing home atmosphere and fan support, but it is their road form that separates them from the rest of the field.

In all honesty, Atlanta’s home form is a little disappointing. It’s not so much the two losses and three draws, so much as it’s how those results came to be. Both losses came against strong opponents (Sporting KC and New York Red Bulls) and Atlanta managed straight reds in both games. Of the three draws, the first draw against NYCFC was impressive because of the quality of the match and opponent. However, the other two draws against Portland and Seattle were disappointing because Atlanta had ample opportunity to win, but couldn’t find the result.

Atlanta will need results at home in order to stay atop the table. Plus, their home atmosphere and support will be crucial to making a run at the MLS Cup.
