We are getting closer and closer to the summer transfer window and the rumors and reports continue to surface across Major League Soccer. Here is a round-up of the recent MLS transfer news.

One of the biggest bits of news was of former New York Red Bulls defender Matthew Olosunde potentially making his return to the club following time spent with Manchester United.

It is unclear whether if this could be a loan or a permanent transfer back to the Big Apple. Additionally, there are other Championships and League One clubs that have expressed interest in loans in England which would seem like the likelier route that this will go.

Hatem Ben Arfa was linked to the Montreal Impact earlier this year after he was finally able to leave Paris Saint-Germain. He saw very limited playing time with the French champions and has been looking to make his move elsewhere for some time now. There was a report that Montreal was keen on offering a contract to the 31-year-old midfielder.

With other big-name clubs in Europe interested in bringing in Ben Arfa, it is hard to see this actually happening. However, he would be guaranteed minutes in MLS from the get-go and it might sway him to avoid a similar situation occurring like PSG with the other big European clubs mentioned.

In MLS departure news, Mauro Diaz of FC Dallas is on his way to the United Arab Emirates to play for Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai FC. Diaz leaves the Texas club as a Supporters Shield and U.S. Open Cup winner.

FC Dallas may be bringing in a new player very shortly to help fill a role defensively following the departure of Anton Nedyalkov. Marquinhos Pedroso is the linked player and plays left back for Figueirense in his home country of Brazil. He would be likely sent on loan to Dallas but has the potential to be a great player as the Western Conference chase first place.

Geoff Cameron’s name has resurfaced again in transfer reports with Los Angeles being a possible destination for the 32-year-old American defender. Following Stoke City’s relegation to the Championship, Cameron would no longer be a Premier League player and should be headed somewhere else this summer. The LA Galaxy are the club listed as showing interest. Cameron could certainly help bolster the back line and could prove to be a crucial signing.

And finally. He’s back. Fernando Torres is reportedly going to be deciding between heading to Japan or the MLS in the very near future. Chicago Fire are once again the MLS club he is being linked to.
