2. Stellar road form

Last week Atlanta became the first team to take points from NYCFC at Yankee Stadium this season. On Wednesday night, the Five Stripes became the first team this season to hold Columbus scoreless at home, and the first team to do it since July 1st, when they held the Crew scoreless in their match last year.

Since losing in Houston on opening weekend, Atlanta is undefeated in seven road matches with five wins. They currently hold the best road record of anyone in MLS. Their inaugural season highlighted a strong home form, but this year the team is excelling away from home.

Atlanta have no more road matches in June, but July will feature three road matches out of five. It will be key for the Five Stripes to continue their hot road form. The team is currently on pace to finish with 70 points. If form holds, Atlanta will break the Supporters Shield points record, set by Toronto FC who finished with 69 points. This road play is a big part of that possibility.
