Here is the latest MLS transfer news, in which Chicago Fire and Columbus Crew are pursuing striker Przemyslaw Frankowski, Wayne Rooney is closing in a DC United move, and Atlanta United look to South America.

In the latest MLS transfer news, Chicago Fire and Columbus Crew are being linked to Polish striker Przemyslaw Frankowski with the summer transfer window approaching.

Frankowski has been in recent MLS news as just last week he was originally linked to both clubs. It came as a bit of surprise since the 23-year-old has not been previously come up in reports until now. Additionally, other European clubs such as Galatasaray have shown interest in the striker.

At present, Frankowski is waiting to see if he will be a part of Poland’s World Cup squad. He was named to the provisional roster and has already represented his home country once this year in a March friendly.

His season in Poland’s top flight did not produce mind-boggling numbers, recording four goals and five assists in 31 appearances. And to date, he has scored 25 goals in 121 appearances for Jagiellonia Białystok. But there is interest from a wide range of suitors.

This would be a huge signing for the Fire if they can pull it off. It appears that this is a somewhat serious target since Frankowski is being linked to two clubs in MLS. Moreover, at 23, this move would make sense as the striker still has room to grow at a club like Chicago.

Meanwhile, here are some other of the main transfer news items of the past week.

  • Colombia U-20 star gets MLS offer

Luis Diaz, a U-20 Colombian international, is reportedly weighing an offer from an MLS club. FC Dallas has been linked to the midfielder in the past. Much like Frankowski, this too would be a huge signing, not only for Dallas but for the league as a whole. Adding a talented player like Diaz could supplement what has already proven to be a dangerous Dallas midfield unit.

Diaz currently plays for Atlético Junior in Colombia’s top flight. He scored three goals in 19 appearances for his club in league play this past season. It is easy to see why he would be an excellent addition given his natural talent, potential for growth, and South American flair.

  • Atlanta United adding more quality

Ivan Rossi of River Plate is the latest player to be linked to Atlanta United, a club built on talented South Americans in the mould of Miguel Almiron, Josef Martinez and last offseason’s marquee addition, Ezequiel Barco.

He only made six appearances for River Plate this past season which might indicate a move is on hand for the midfielder. Rossi would certainly add more depth to an already strong Atlanta United roster.

  • DC United and Everton agree to transfer

The Times is reporting that DC United and Everton have agreed to the transfer of English striker, Wayne Rooney. That leaves the decision down to Rooney himself, who has yet to make a concrete decision on where he will play his football next season.
